I have ‘re-posted’ this question because I am beginning to hear about this question more and more recently.

QUESTION – “I’ve had a salesman trying to sell me a me an upgrade Solaredge with optimisers for 4295 for my 5 year old 4kw system on the basis that the current SMA 3300 inverter will probably fail in the next couple of years as well as being too small and limiting my output. True or not?”

ANSWER – You probably have another five years plus left on your existing inverter, which can be easily replaced for hundreds not thousands of pounds.

I have written an article about this new ‘sales tactic’ here:

PV solar panels, Solar Edge inverters and voltage optimisers
