      Hi,
Anyone know how much it would cost to remove and reinstall 4kw solar panel array? am considering having roof replaced.

      Thanks in advance.

      Hi

Depending on the installer, 40-60% of an average installation cost is the installation process.

      Hope this helps.

Anyone know of a local (Edinburgh, Scotland) solar panel installer who can take the panels off and re-install them at a new address. We have 14 panels altogether

        Hi Tom

Today, I really don’t think removing and reinstalling is very cost effective. PV costs have reduced considerably over the last few years, so it would work out cheaper to reinstall a new system at your new address, rather than upping sticks with your old system.

Additionally, your old system will be a great incentive to buy for house purchasers, as the feed-in tariff is limited to the address of the installation and is not transferable to a new address.

      Hi
      I have a challenge.
I live in France and previously had a sun systems hot water kit fitted in our roof. These appear to be similar to the flat plate design you sell. dimensions of the leaking panel is 2101 x 1100 mm (surface area 2523 m2) and is one of a pair.
could you tell me if the panel is compatible and offer a price (in £s and for collection in the UK) if it is. I have been unable to source the manufacturer of the original kit
      who were Sun Systems UK
      Thanks

        Hi Dave

Sun Systems UK went pop around 2011. They were a rebranded system from a German manufacturer, but I cannot for the life of me remember the original manufacturer’s name.

We’ve not sold any flat-plate panels since 2012 as PV is now our recommendation, but a good UK flat-plate manufacturer is:

        Hope this helps.

I’m having a new roof installed soon.
the scaffolding and roofing company are ready to go, but cant find anybody in the Oldham area who will remove and refit the 20 solar panels fixed to roof.
will have to cancel the whole programme if not sorted soon

      Hi Carl

Yes, this seems to a reoccurring issue as the solar industry begins to mature.

Installers are reluctant to do this type of work, because it means taking legal responsibility for others work going forward.

Additionally, Installers are required by the RECC to ensure roof covering are in good enough condition before the installation, that no roof work is required for at least twenty years.

I’m sorry I can’t be any more useful than this.

Where in the RECC code does it state ‘Installers are required by the RECC to ensure roof covering are in good enough condition before the installation, that no roof work is required for at least twenty years.’?
My solar installation on a slate roof is six years old and the roof requires replacing.

Apologies I submitted my email address incorrectly.

        Hi

RECC is now amalgamated with MCS standards nowadays, but to answer your query, Page 9 of the MCS standards (41.1) state “the site must be suitable for the installation.” As panels are ‘performance guaranteed’ for twenty-years, it’s ‘good practice’ to ensure the roof is suitable for such a timeframe.

        Hope this helps.
