The PV solar panel incentive

Friday, August 12th, 2011

John and Mary, an ordinary couple from Lincolnshire who has recently invested in PV solar panels (photovoltaic) for their home explain in their own words why they took the plunge.

The PV solar panel apocalypse in the UK between 2012 and 2018.“We have just had a 4kW photovoltaic panel system fitted to our east-facing roof, not only as an ethical investment but because it makes financial sense.

There is currently a window of opportunity to take advantage of a clean energy cash-back scheme, guaranteed by the government for a 20 year period, but if you defer your installation for a few years, your entry benefits will be less, so don’t wait to make the decision. (more…)

PV solar panels are the future

Monday, August 1st, 2011

Food for thought and learning from the history of the Roman Empire to discover that dependence on others is never a good thing. Why are PV solar panels (photovoltaic) technologies our future?

There's nothing more powerful than when a PV's time has come.

There’s nothing more powerful than when PV’s time has come.

This time, we look to the future, to establish what the future of our energy security will ultimately be if we continue to depend on energy from other sources, rather than our own, to keep on the lights.

The flight back home from a visit to Rome (the great city itself) took me over Germany, a country which also features in the history of the Roman Empire. Flying into Munich airport, the differences between Britain and Germany were very noticeable.

The start of Heat my Home began on a train journey to Salzburg in 2004, where I noticed the large numbers of solar panels on homes, even back then. The future was clear to me, and I decided to promote solar panel technology in its different forms. (more…)

Grants for solar heating panels

Saturday, July 23rd, 2011

Homeowners across the United Kingdom can now get grants towards the cost of installing systems such as solar heating panels, evacuated tubes and air source and ground source heat pumps.

Solar Heating Panels including Evacuated Solar Tubes– £300 grant (available to all homes, regardless of the type of the existing heating system).

• Biomass boiler– £950 grant (for homes without mains gas).
• Air and ground source heat pumps– £850 grant (for homes without mains gas).

The coalition government unveiled a £15m Renewable Heat Premium Payment scheme– which begins on 1 August and will run until March 2012. The incentive aims to support up to 25,000 microgeneration installations on a first come first served basis. (more…)

We had PV solar panels installed

Tuesday, July 19th, 2011

We at Power My Home have been shouting from the rooftops for many years about how brilliant PV solar panels (photovoltaic) are.

There's nothing more powerful than when a PV's time has come.

There’s nothing more powerful than when PV’s time has come.

You don’t understand the benefits until you have seen them at work, so after asking some of our existing customers, we have had great responses, which you can, read some here:

“As scientists, we invested in solar water heating years ago, proved it worked and saved us money. Now we have paid for the expensive PV solar system which will give us a better return for our money than the building society. After all the space station which uses the technology proves the system works long-term.”

PV solar panels (photovoltaic) aren’t just about going green; they can save you thousands of pounds!

Solar heating and PV electric panels.

You need a southerly facing roof with space on which to put the panels, which don’t require direct sunshine to work, just daylight.

You gain financially in 3 simple ways: your home value increases, you save on your energy bills and the feed-in tariff scheme gives you a guaranteed income from the energy you create.

Consider these gains over 20-30 years, and you’ll see that it can be extremely beneficial.

The green movement has failed

Tuesday, May 10th, 2011

It breaks my heart to have to write this. As someone who loves the natural world, biodiversity and the human race, I find the realisation that we are unable to co-exist is sad.

Power My Home PV Solar Panels UKSo how have we, with all our modern wisdom and knowledge of the world and our place in it, failed on such an important issue?

Now, as Friends of the Earth has just discovered, the coalition government is about to rip up its environmental commitments.
