After much heartache over the last few months caused by the governments mishandling of the feed-in tariffs scheme’s reduction for PV solar panels. With the still unsettled court case which the government has already lost twice, but continues to appeal.

When solar radiation or solar energy enters the earth’s atmosphere, it does so as a shortwave. When these short waves hit something like a person, building or solar panel, then the wave converts to long wave. The process expels a small amount of energy, and this energy produces heat or electricity depending on the panel type.
There are two types of solar panels; both do very different jobs, but both use energy from the sun:
1. Solar heating panels (including evacuated tubes)
2. PV electric solar panels.
Which you choose is up to you, but it depends on which type of energy cost you want to reduce and how much you can afford to spend on a solar project.
People now see solar panels as an investment in the home.
Domestic and commercial photovoltaic, solar panels are commonly known as PV solar panels, use photocells to convert solar radiation into electricity. The PV cell consists of one or two layers of semiconducting material, usually silicon. When light shines on the solar cell, it creates an electric field across the layers, causing electricity to flow. The higher the intensity of the sun, the higher the flow of power.
Sell electricity back to the National Grid with the feed-in tariff scheme. Receive a guaranteed 20 years income from your PV solar panels. The incentive is tax-free and open to anyone who installs electric, solar technology in their home.
In addition to saving you money, photovoltaic, solar panels provide a wide range of benefits, even in the UK climate. Investing in your home and your energy future with an on-grid connected system with a typical lifespan of 30-40 years. Solar panels, in general, have never made such financial sense.
Feed-in tariffs also are known as the Clean Energy Cash Back Scheme, an incentive that pays people for producing their power. A domestic solar installation now connected to your meter and the National Grid, so any excess you create can be sold to your energy company who is obligated to purchase your power. This scheme is called the feed-in tariffs (FIT’s project) which are designed to reward the early adopters of solar the most and the later adopter the least.
Solar heating panels
Domestic and commercial solar heating systems gather energy radiated by the sun and convert it into useful heat in the form of hot water. Solar heating technology has been available since the 1970s and works alongside an existing boiler, to provide hot water or space heating with underfloor heating.

Evacuated solar tubes
Evacuated solar tubes have used in the UK for many years. With the ongoing energy price rises, it has become an even more cost-effective method of generating your hot water and thus using less from fossil fuel sources.
An average system can generate around 60-70% of the hot water required a year, which in turn will reduce your hot water bills. We install evacuated tubes because they are the most efficient solar heating technology.
In the summer, most of your hot water needs can be produced using an evacuated solar tube system. Even though the winter months, it can contribute heat from the sun to your water tank so reducing the number of times, your boiler fires up.

This I think is the future of our planet the Earth, although the correct expression would be “Earth’s death by a billion cuts”.
From humble beginnings.
For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.
The BBC’s ‘How to grow your planet’ series highlighted the conversion plants and trees had on a young Earth. Ultimately it’s these interactions between plants and the animal kingdom which keeps the earth healthy.
Humanity is a magnificent creature, but our numbers are without a doubt overwhelming the natural processes. The planet doesn’t rely on us; it is just a ball of rock which just happened to be the right distance from its parent star for liquid water to flow. (more…)

After months of uncertainty for the PV (photovoltaic) solar panel technology industry, the clouds are clearing, and the sun is breaking through for the solar panel industry at last.
With a considerable reduction in PV costs over the last 18 months, (but won’t last forever) the old feed-in tariff rate should have been reduced much earlier conceded the industry. It wasn’t, and that’s why we saw the feeding frenzy last year.
The solar panel industry has been in limbo since the two court case fiasco over the Christmas period, thus creating customer uncertainty and a public relations nightmare for trade just finding its feet.
When you truly look at our planet, even our universe in simplistic terms, what has occurred to create life is just a series of chemical reactions, contained in a restricted bowl.

The stars (sun’s) we see in the night sky are just hydrogen and helium balls reacting, our planet we call Earth is a ball of molten iron which hadn’t cooled down yet from when it coalesced.
Our Oxygen-rich atmosphere which we take for granted is merely a by-product of early life and photosynthesis again other chemical processes.
The atmosphere; an ultra-thin gas shroud when compared to the whole planet, can be compared to an eggshell. Our excellent and breathable air is as just as thin. Apologies if I am teaching granny to suck eggs here. (more…)

The end of the Mayan 5,125-year cycle is now upon us, and a new epoch in human and planetary time will soon arrive -or so goes the theory!
Whether you think that the theory will be proved wrong, as the millennium bug was in 2000, or believe that humanity will go the same way as the Dodo, the timing of the Mayan cycle alongside recent human and planetary events will make even the most die-hard cynic think twice.
Three significant factors which may alter or devastate our modern civilisation leaving out events such as asteroids, solar flares or pandemics, are already in play, and we must ignore this at our peril.
