Thermodynamic solar panels, installations and MCS-accredited installers

Thermodynamic solar panels are hybrid air source heat-pumps that enhance your hot water and central heating capabilities. This system considerably reduces the use of traditional and expensive fuels to heat your home.

In a nutshell.

Thermodynamic solar panel installations are the most recent breakthrough in alternative technology. Whether it's raining, windy, night or day, this system can provide heating 24 hours and 365 days of the year using heat pump technology.

The breakthrough comes from being able to use indirect atmospheric heating as well as direct heat from the sun via its unique solar panels.

The science bit.

The thermodynamic panel contains refrigerant that has a boiling temperature of 25 Degrees Celsius alongside heat-generated via compression through the heat pump.

Alternatively, we suggest installing PV solar panels working alongside a heating converter to heat water using your excess electricity.

Heat pump and thermodynamic solar panels

If you want to see for yourself, how a heat pump works, then just put your finger over the hole of a cycle tyre pump. Make your finger create a seal and push down the plunger. Voila! The metallic screw thread on the cycle pump will feel hot.

This well-established technology used worldwide in millions of buildings generates heat at a much lower cost than conventional methods.

Conventional heat pumps indirectly use solar energy via atmospheric heat, but thermodynamic solar panels harness the sun's power if orientated towards the southern sky.

The black solar panels enhance the effects of the compression that and thus a hybrid solar energy system was born.

With that said, this pioneering technology is likely to keep growing in popularity as people around the world continue to find alternative ways of reducing dependence on increasingly costly fossil fuels.

We've been proud to work with the original PV solar pioneers, and so I will watch with interest to see if thermodynamic panels begin to appear on rooftops.

Conventional PV solar panels became popular in only a few years, and I hope thermodynamic technology success as green energy technologies expand in the 21st-century world.

Exciting times ahead.

Questions about thermodynamic solar panels

Do I need planning permission?

No planning permission required, in most domestic cases.

Do thermodynamics work in the UK climate?

Because the system doesn't need direct sunlight, it works better than more traditional methods. Thermodynamic solar panels now developed for night and day use in the UK.

How does this work?

How much will a system cost?

The cost of a system depends on several factors but usually based on tank sizes, heat for central heating or hot water only.

Can I install thermodynamics myself?

In most cases, No. However, if accredited with a Part P electrical qualification, then it may be possible to install in a DIY capacity.

An accredited MCS installer must commission all installations.

What water temperatures can I expect?

The operating temperature is 55° Celcius, which is suitable for all washing and bathing needs. However, an anti-legionella system activates to raise the temperature to 70° Celsius.

Why update my hot water tank?

Older 'copper' hot water tanks run exceptionally inefficiently, especially after many years of use. Limescale will reduce performance even further.

When installing a solar heating system, it's essential to establish a modern more efficient tank to get the most out of your system.

How is central heating possible?

Yes, if you decide to install a system set-up for central heating with the correct amount of panels. A full conversion from your old system including many thermodynamic solar panels is required.

It'll be working side-by-side with your conventional boiler still with a secondary coil in an updated hot water tank.

How long will it take to install?

Only a few hours in most cases.

How long do solar heating panels last?

A system will easily last twenty-five years.

The benefits of thermodynamics over traditional solar panels?

The wonder of this type of thermodynamic panels is you don't need a southerly facing roof space. These unobtrusive panels can also be wall mounted, thus allowing many homes to adopt that aren't suitable for traditional type solar panels.
